Heaton Counseling Center was started in 2017 in Lincoln, NE as a part-time practice. We are growing, and now have locations in both Lehi UT and Lincoln NE, with additional services and providers. We offer both Telehealth and in-person appointments, and work with couples, families, and individuals.

Areas of Practice

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a type of psychological counseling (psychotherapy) that can help family members improve communication and resolve conflicts. Family therapy is often short term and may include all family members or just those able or willing to participate. Sessions can teach family members skills to deepen connections and work through stressful times, even after therapy sessions have concluded.

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopment disorder that causes a wide range of impairments in both social communication and restricted and/or repetitive behaviors. ASD is diagnosed in more than 3 million individuals each year in the US. There is no known cure, but treatments can help manage the condition.

ADHD

ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, is a neuro-developmental disorder found in children, teens, and adults. Its core symptoms are inattention, impulsivity and/or hyperactivity. In an adult with ADHD, symptoms of hyperactivity may be less obvious, but difficulties with inattention, poor planning, and impulsivity may persist. These symptoms can appear at home, work or school, or in social settings. ADHD can be managed with medication and counseling services.

Jesse and Julie began their parenting journey more than 18 years ago at Girls and Boys Town of Nevada, just 6 months before their oldest child was born. Over the course of 5 years , they worked with over 100 teenagers and have continued to use what they learned with their own four kids, who range in age from high school senior to kindergartener. They now work with couples in the parenting class and private consultations to provide hope and implement positive change in families all over the country.
